What is ALICE Training?
ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training is a research-based program that prepares individuals to handle emergency situations. Unlike traditional lockdown-only approaches, ALICE provides options that empower students and staff to make the best decisions based on the specific situation.
At Ridgeview College Preparatory High School, we are committed to providing a safe learning environment. Our staff receives comprehensive ALICE training to ensure they are prepared to protect our students in any emergency situation.

Alert - Lockdown - Inform - Counter - Evacuate
The ALICE Protocol
ALICE provides a set of proactive strategies that increase chances of survival during emergency situations.
Alert
Quickly notify people of a threat using clear, concise language. This could be through PA announcements, text messages, or person-to-person communication.
Lockdown
Secure the room by barricading entry points and turning off lights. This is used when evacuation is not possible or safe.
Inform
Communicate the location and activity of the threat in real-time. This information helps others make informed decisions about their response.
Counter
As a last resort, create noise, movement, and distance to reduce the threat's ability to shoot accurately. This is not about fighting, but about survival.
Evacuate
When it is safe to do so, remove yourself from the danger zone. This is often the best option when a path to safety is clear.
