School Policies

Important policies and guidelines for student success

Attendance Policy

Excused Absences

Students will be excused from school and released to parents or legal guardians for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Illness, injury, medical or dental appointments
  • Family emergencies
  • School-related activities
  • Bereavement due to death of an immediate family member
  • Court appearances (with documentation from the court)
  • Observation of religious holidays (approved by the school)

Tardiness

Students are expected to arrive to school and all classes on time. Excessive tardiness may result in:

  • Detention or other disciplinary consequences
  • Parent contact and/or conference
  • Reduced participation in extracurricular activities

Documentation Requirements

For absences to be excused, parents/guardians must:

  • Notify the school within 24 hours of the absence
  • Provide written documentation (doctor's note, court notice, etc.) when requested
  • Complete any make-up work as directed by teachers

Cell Phone Lock Box Policy

To minimize distractions and create a focused learning environment, Ridgeview College Prep has implemented a cell phone lock box policy.

Classroom Procedure

  • Upon entering each classroom, students must place their cell phones in the designated lock box
  • Phones must be turned off or on silent mode before being placed in the box
  • Students may retrieve their phones at the end of each class period

Consequences for Non-Compliance

If a student is found with a cell phone during class without permission:

  • 1st Offense: Phone confiscated and returned to student at end of day
  • 2nd Offense: Phone confiscated, parent must pick up from school office
  • 3rd+ Offense: Phone confiscated, disciplinary action, possible loss of phone privileges on campus

Note: Students may use phones during passing periods and lunch with teacher permission for educational purposes during class time.

Dress Code

Ridgeview College Prep maintains a dress code to promote a professional learning environment and school pride.

Bottoms

  • Khaki, tan, or navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts
  • Appropriate length (mid-thigh or longer for shorts/skirts)
  • No rips, tears, or excessive distressing

Tops

  • Purple, white, or gray polo shirts
  • Ridgeview spirit shirts
  • Collared shirts (solid colors)

Jackets & Outerwear

  • Solid colors: purple, gray, white, navy, or black
  • Ridgeview-branded outerwear encouraged
  • No oversized or baggy clothing

Special Days

Friday Dress Down

Students may wear jeans (no rips/tears) with school-appropriate tops on Fridays

Spirit Days

Wear Ridgeview colors (purple and gold) or spirit wear on designated spirit days

Formal Dances

Semi-formal attire required for school dances and special events (specific guidelines provided before each event)

Student Parking Policy

Students who drive to school must follow all parking regulations and obtain proper permits.

Parking Permit Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Current vehicle registration and insurance
  • Completed parking permit application (see form below)
  • Parent/guardian signature on permit agreement
  • Good academic and behavioral standing

Student Vehicle Rules

  • Students may not leave campus during school hours without permission
  • Vehicles are off-limits during school hours (no loitering in parking lot)
  • Speed limit on campus is 5 mph - slow down in parking areas
  • Parking is allowed only in designated student parking areas
  • Reckless driving or traffic violations may result in permit revocation

Required: Valid driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and parent signature

Important: Parking permits are a privilege, not a right. The school reserves the right to revoke parking privileges for violations of school rules, poor attendance, or disciplinary issues.
